Your Hospital referral

If your Doctor wants to refer you to hospital you can now choose the hospital you want to go to.  This is called Choose and Book (C&B) and you could leave the Practice with an appointment at the hospital of your choice.  You will sit down with one of our C&B admin staff and be able to see the waiting times at a number of hospitals and then make your decision where to go. Alternatively if the C&B staff member responsible for making appointments is unavailable you will be contacted by telephone and go through the booking process. To read about Choose and Book please click on the link below where you can also change an appointment.

Your GP may prefer to contact a Consultant of their choice and refer you them instead. This is likely to be at Northern General Hospital and could take up to 6 weeks for an appointment to come through depending on the urgency.

Please let the hospital know if you cannot keep an appointment. Waiting lists can be long and a missed appointment cannot be used for someone else who may have waited a long time to be seen.
